| Materials: Fly swatter with a small hole cut out in the middle., Index cards with word wall words on it., |
| Goal: Given a vocabulary word orally, the student will locate the word in the room. |
| Items: Word wall words for the week. |
What to do
- Introduce/Review word wall words using the index cards.
- Group students in pairs.
- Give each pair of students a fly swatter.
- Explain to the students that they are going on a word hunt.
- Each pair of students will locate a given word wall word in the room. The students should take turns placing the hole of the fly swatter over the word and reading the word.
- Allow 5 minutes for students to find the word in several places in the room.
- After 5 minutes, the students report where they found their given word.
