What to do

- Identify the patterns possible for that particular vowel.
- Have students take their Long Vowel Chart and begin reading the book or passage.
- As students read, they will come across a word that contains the long vowel they are searching for. Students are to analyze the pattern and place it in the appropriate column of their Long Vowel Charts.
- Have students compare their charts to determine if they have placed the words in the appropriate column.
