Items: All letters learned so far. |
What to do
- Before beginning the game, divide students into pairs. Situate students so that each pair is facing the same direction (i.e. sitting next to each other, not facing each other).
- You are going to play a game with your partner. One person will go first. He will use his finger to write a letter in the air. The other person will try to guess what letter he wrote.
- Who would like to come to the front of the room to demonstrate this for us? Call on a pair of students to come to the front of the room.
- Okay. Bobby is going to go first and Suzy is going to guess the letter. Bobby, choose any letter and write it in the air. Write the letter first in uppercase and next in lower case.
- Good. Now, Suzy can you guess the letter. Give her a chance to guess. Make corrections if necessary.
- That is exactly what you are going to do with your partner. Remember, when it is your turn to write, you must write the upper case letter first and the lower case letter second.
- Also remember, give your partner three chances to guess your letter. If he still doesn’t get it, it is okay to tell him what your letter was.
- Does anybody have any questions?
- Observe small groups of students play the game. For the students who struggle, give them help and make a note in an Activity Log.
